Plan of action



Here are some of the steps I follow when making a scrapbook page.


Starting Points

Motivation and inspiration.

Select a group of photos related in theme or event.
Print copies

Choose focal point:
Photo, memorabilia, title or something else. .
Colors, journaling, photos, title, embellishments, journaling boxes/pockets, matts, captions, style, etc.

Plan Layout

Colors, journaling, photos, title, embellishments, journaling boxes/pockets, matts, captions, style, etc.

Try out a new technique.

Keep notes of Sources
If you are interested in publishing in future you will need: “Detailed instructions on how you constructed each page. List the brand name, color, etc. of all products used, including paper, scissors, templates, pens, stamps, ink color, software, fonts, etc.” It is also handy for future reference.

Publishing Tips

Decide on a style
Vintage, whimsical, grunge, romantic, etc.

Sketch

Select 2-3 colors:
Paper; patterned/card-stock for background, matts, borders, embellishments, photo-corners, etc.

Choose paper
Decorate, cut and ink edges (optional)

Gather supplies ( acid free archival )
Scissors, ruler, adhesives, rubber stamps, stencils, templates, papers, pens,
embellishments etc.
Use new supplies

Shape and Matt photos, title, journaling, captions, etc.
Add prominence to focal point by double or wider matting. Use photo corners ( optional)
Simple shapes like squares, rectangles, triangles, ovals, etc. work best.

Add Title, journaling, captions and more information
Type or write by hand the Who, what, where, when and how of the photos.

Arrange photos, title, journaling, etc. on page.

Add extras like embellishments, photo corners, clipart, stamped images, lace, flowers, ephemera, brads, etc.

Write detailed instructions on how you constructed each page.

Date and sign

Have fun!
