Notes:
My father worked on the Gold mines as a Winding engine driver.

“A winding engine is a stationary engine used to control a cable, for example to power a mining hoist at a pit head. Electric hoist controllers have replaced proper winding engines in modern mining, but use electric motors that are also traditionally referred to as winding engines.” – Wikipedia

He collects postage stamps, old coins and postcards and does crossword puzzles.
He loves music; especially classical, Opera, Ballet, Flamenco and music from Paraguay.

Hint: I don’t always download fonts, I opened the Font preview, printed it the size I wanted, e.g. 200% on Legal size paper and traced the letters on my My Light-Box. I keep a record of all my sources for future reference. I am saving some of my sources at Pinterest.

Style:
Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction, alternate history, and speculative fiction that came into prominence during the 1980s and early 1990s.[1] Specifically, steampunk involves an era or world where steam power is still widely used—usually the 19th century and often Victorian era Britain—that incorporates prominent elements of either science fiction or fantasy. “Wikipedia

    • Thank you 😉

I love page pockets, they are easy and I can tuck in more memorabilia and information at a later stage.

I hope so as my dad gave me most of he’s photos, memorabilia, documents and a lot of information.

  1. I didn’t realize that gum boot dancing started as a means of communication in the South African gold mines. Oddly enough, we have a group of folks who do gum boot performances here, but none are from South Africa! Also, I now have a better understanding of Steam Punk. I have viewed weddings, parties, etc done in that fashion and I didn’t understand it. Thanks for such an educational post, Tokeloshe.

    • I was lucky to see some dances and I even choreographed one once, so this post brought back lots of memories.
      That is interesting.
I’m glad you liked it, I was afraid it was too long.
You might enjoy this video as well.

  2. Thanks for the explanation, Tok, I’ve seen ‘steampunk’ popping up all over the place and wondered what it was about.
ps: Piet is a handsome guy, hey!
